Gretchen Haselhorst, Entertainment Editor
Senior Gretchen Haselhorst is a first-year Entertainment Editor on the DGS Blueprint staff. While this is her first year on staff, she has been freelancing articles with Blueprint since her sophomore year, including taking Journalistic Expression her junior year. Additionally, she competed in the 2025 Illinois High School Association Journalism state competition for review writing.
Haselhorst is an active member of the DGS band program. She plays the French Horn in the DGS Wind Ensemble and has made all-state for the Illinois Music Education Association; she is the mellophone co-section leader in the Marching Mustangs. She is also involved in short film, Tri-M, National Honor Society and works as a lifeguard.
In her free time, Haselhorst can be found at the cinema watching the newest releases, browsing the shelves of the public library for a good book or listening to music. She also writes short stories and scripts for personal enjoyment.
Haselhorst hopes to improve her journalistic writing throughout this year while also expanding her creative horizons. She plans to major in journalism at college in the fall.
