Evangeline Selking, Entertainment Editor
Senior Evangeline Selking is a first-year Entertainment Editor for the Blueprint staff. Here at DGS, she serves as the principal flute of the Wind Ensemble, a co-founder of SWENext and an e-board member of the Tri-M Music Honors Society. Since her freshman year, Selking has placed in honors ensembles at ILMEA All-State, ranking first in the state for her instrument in 2025. Selking is an honor roll student who received a Bronze Medal in the National Spanish Exam.
Outside of school, Selking plays flute and piccolo in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s flagship orchestra, which performed onstage at Lollapalooza this past summer, and has won multiple national and international awards in music competitions. She volunteers at a nearby hospice, providing social and emotional support for patients through both her flute performance and facilitation of interactive activities. Selking additionally serves as an SAT Reading tutor through Khan Academy’s Schoolhouse program, impacting students globally.
In her free time, Selking can be found with a good book; her favorite authors include RF Kuang, Celeste Ng, and Susanna Clarke.
