Not only does Ohio State have strong academic programs, but they also offer great athletic facilities and programs. Club sports are closer in activity to a high school varsity team while intramural sports are more casual play.
If you’re not looking for something joinable, but more of an individual activity to do in your free time, the university offers various gyms around campus that include basketball/volleyball courts, weights, climbing walls and wellness centers.
Some other information about campus is that you must live on campus for the first 2 years (the only dorm that doesn’t have AC is Baker Hall), each student gets a BUCK ID (your personal student identification card) and every sport is free to get into (with your BUCK ID) except for men’s football and basketball.
Some chants or traditions that Ohio State is known for are the famous O-H-I-O and the pronunciation of the word “The” in front of Ohio State University. When someone yells out “O-H” you yell “I-O” right back at them. The enunciation of the word “The” before you say Ohio State emits the officiality and pride you have as a student for the university. These chants/traditions emit school spirit and pride for the university itself.
The campus has an arrangement of safety precautions to ensure the students enrolled can have some peace of mind while heading to their classes. One of these safety precautions are the emergency light poles that when switched, police come to their aid. Another aspect is their “Buckeyes alert system” which alerts students about various updates such as snow storms or other weather conditions that might impact their schedules.
Whether it’s the fun chants, clubs, sports, safety precautions or the academics, Ohio State has lots to offer when it comes to making students excel. College tours open for registration at the start of every month.
