As one of the biggest franchises in the world, opinions on the best Marvel movies tend to differ and spark heated debates. Here are my top 10 favorite Marvel movies/shows.

10. “Eternals”
Though it may be the newest addition to the MCU as of writing this, I absolutely loved “Eternals.” The diversity was spectacular, and though the plot was somewhat predictable, I throuroughly enjoyed every second of the movie. I can’t wait until this movie is on Disney+ so I can rewatch it to my heart’s content.

9. “Captain America: Civil War”
Coming in at number nine is another movie in the Captain America trilogy. Civil War was the first time that the viewers had seen a physical conflict between the Avengers which has provocted massive debate in the fandom that still continues to this day. The fact that there is a solid argument for both sides of the debate is what makes this movie so good in addition to the epic fight scenes; whether you are Team Cap or Team Iron Man, this movie is one of the best.

8. “Avengers: Endgame”
Of course Endgame had to make this list somewhere; this movie was arguably the biggest cinematic event of the decade. Twitter conspiracies, the cliffhanger at the end of Infinity War and the inevitable wrap up of some of the most popular story arcs of the century made for an emotional viewing experience. If you didn’t see this movie in 2019, you definitely heard about it from Marvel fans losing their minds over the ending of their favorite characters’ stories.

7. “Avengers Infinity War”:
While Endgame might have been the movie event of the 21st century, I think I actually preferred Infinity War more; at no point during the movie did I feel that it was dragging, whereas I felt a little bored during the first half of Endgame until the action picked up. Even though this movie featured the most characters ever in a Marvel movie (at the time of release), I felt like there was a balanced representation of each of the characters, and it didn’t feel like it was too focused on one hero in particular. In addition to balancing the characters, Marvel was able to add comedic touches to the movie so it didn’t feel like too much of a downer despite the devastating ending.

6. “Spiderman: Homecoming”
This one is another movie that is very popular in the Marvel fandom. I think that Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker and Spiderman is the most accurate portrayal in a Spiderman movie thus far. The internal struggle to find a balance between being a high school student and being a superhero is not a situation that most viewers can relate to, but it is easy to feel for Peter Parker as a result of the acting and the writing.

5. “WandaVision”
It should come as a surprise to none that WandaVision is high up on this list. As Marvel’s first TV show on Disney Plus, fans weren’t sure what to expect from this show, and many were still confused by the mystery of the first few episodes. However, if you push through and get to the emotional complexity that is the last couple of episodes, you will find yourself loving WandaVision like myself and many Marvel fans.

4. “Black Panther”
Directly in the middle of phase three, Black Panther was a step in the right direction of diversifying the MCU, and including more POC storylines, backgrounds and traditions. Another reason that I love this movie is that Killmonger’s story and motives aren’t all bad; they come from a place of hurt and abandonment. Black Panther helps to show that the world isn’t split into heroes and villains, people are made of shades of gray.

3. “Loki”
While we are on the topic of morally gray villains, Loki is a prime example of a complex character who developed from a villain to a sort of anti-hero. That is one of the reasons why the Marvel show Loki is so interesting- it’s based around an earlier version of Loki, who only valued greed and himself. This show explores Loki’s motivations, and why he became a villain, while developing him in a different way.

Tom Hiddleston’s acting shines through as a highlight of the show, and was hilarious to see such a narcissistic character learn to be a part of a team. Overall, I was super excited that Marvel made a show based around my favorite MCU character, and that it was done so well.

2. “The Avengers”
Some may be surprised to see this movie so high up on my list, but this movie holds a ton of nostalgic value for me. I think I could watch (and quote) this movie until the end of time. Though the CGI and storyline may not be as complex and impressive as later movies, there’s nothing like watching that circle shot of all of the Avengers in New York as they team up for the first time.

The witty banter, the one liners, the character introductions and an epic fight scene at the end make for a viewing experience that never gets old.

1. Thor: “Ragnarok”
This movie is Marvel perfection, no question about it. The banter between the characters makes me laugh out loud every time I watch, and I love how the writers explore Thor as a character without Mjolnir. This movie is also super colorful and aesthetically pleasing for the viewers as opposed to the other darker MCU movies.

Loki and Thor finally repaired their bond as brothers and fought together to defeat their sister Hela which was an amazing resolution to their conflict that was a main plot point of the Thor trilogy. Thor: Ragnarok also proves that Marvel can make an outstanding movie without taking itself too seriously, and not fall into the formulaic tropes of superhero movies. The CGI, killer cast and phenomenal soundtrack combine to make this movie unforgettable, and my favorite Marvel movie thus far.
