Procrastination can be prevented

This+is+my+challenge+for+everyone.+Try+just+a+week+with+no+procrastination.+Feel+the+satisfaction+of+getting+done+what+needs+to+get+done.%0A
Dominic Marcantelli
This is my challenge for everyone. Try just a week with no procrastination. Feel the satisfaction of getting done what needs to get done.

You may have heard the saying, “The greatest amount of wasted time is the time getting started.”

We all procrastinate. But we shouldn’t and here’s why:

According to Solving Procrastination, 80-95% of college students procrastinate. And this says a lot, due to college students busy schedules between possible sports, job commitments and studies. And on top of that, tuition can be expensive so if the important things are being put off, lots of time and money can be wasted.

When it comes to a Google classroom assignment a teacher posts before they announce it in class, I have this certain get-it-done mentality to complete it. Usually, this ends up with the teacher saying, “Thank you Dominic for turning it in, as you are the only one with it done before I even explained it.”

This isn’t a bad thing at all. I just jump the gun so I don’t have to do it later. I would say I have this same system for everything else in my life.

I’m waking up at 4:30 every morning and lifting weights, knocking that out of the way. Then I proceed to get everything ready for my school day. Finally, twenty minutes of reading, making lunch and then off to school.

Right after school, I have practice until 6 p.m. From there, I have dinner, finish any homework I didn’t do during the course of the school day, pray and then lights out by around 9 p.m.

I am a scheduled oriented person. I care about my routine, because I feel comfortable in it. And when I am comfortable, I then proceed to see results in whatever I am doing.

Now, I’m not saying that this schedule is for everyone-there is a perfect routine for everyone. But what I’m saying is that there are 24 hours in a day. A very common theme amongst teenagers is putting off the important tasks, and then proceeding to the new Fortnite drop and trending Netflix series.

Time management is extremely important, and so is coming to the realization that there is enough time in a day. We need to make a plan the night before, and check off what gets done. Some things may need to be changed up, and we may have to sacrifice time doing irrelevant things to fit in the important tasks.

This is my challenge for everyone. Try just a week with no procrastination. Feel the satisfaction of getting done what needs to get done.

See how it goes mentally and physically, knowing that there is still time to relax and put any stress and anxiety away. And enjoy the new Fortnite update and recommended, top 10 Netflix series.
