DGS sophomore Parker Schmidt is entering his second year of high school after reflecting on a successful first year.

DGS sophomore Parker Schmidt has just completed his first year of high school. Schmidt is on the DGS lacrosse team and is on a competitive ski team during the winter months. Coming off the pandemic and new construction inside the building, Schmidt reflected on some of his favorite parts of his first year of high school.

Q: What have your thoughts been about freshman year?
A: It’s a big difference from middle school, it was really stressful at first but you get the hang of it over time.

Q: What is your favorite part of the construction?
A: Definitely the commons, it looks really nice and they added a bunch of really comfy chairs so it’s great for studying.

Q: Have you looked up to a particular older student or teacher for advice this year?
A: My math teacher, Mrs. Painter. I would ask her where stuff is and how to find my next class.

Q: Are you looking forward to a particular class next year?
A: Math three honors because I like to be challenged in school and it would be a lot of work, but I am able to do it.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities in the school?
A: Lacrosse and then during the winter I’m on a ski team and then to start the year I was on a soccer team.
