Q: What made you want to start skating?

A: One of my friends actually. We started in gymnastics together then moved to dance then we both started skating. I absolutely fell in love with it, so I thank her and her mom for getting me hooked.

Q: Who has been your greatest influence?

A: I would say my coaches. They are so amazing, and they push me to do my best every time I step on the ice.

Q: What is one lesson you have learned while skating?

A: Always get back up. There is even a day, I believe it’s in February, and the skating community has named it National We Get Up Day. We have all learned that no matter what we always need to get back up and try again.

Q: What is something that you would tell a young skater?

A: I would tell them to always keep trying. Younger skaters tend to not move up because they get stuck or frustrated with a level, but if they keep pushing themselves, they will succeed no matter how long it takes them.

Q: Do you think you will skate in college?

A: I hope so. I have had my eye on WMU’s synchro team since sixth grade. Their coach is amazing, and the team is so strong and getting stronger. I am excited to see what the future holds for me as a skater, but I hope that I do get to continue my skating career.
