The best Taco Bell sauces: Ranked

Taco Bell’s hot sauces are a key ingredient to their success.

Ever since I was little, Taco Bell had always been a fast food staple in my diet. It took a few years, but as I grew up I eventually learned to love the hot sauces that Taco Bell provided. This is something that younger me could not have never fathomed with an extra mild taco in her hand. I will admit, everything at Taco Bell pretty much tastes the same, but with the addition of the signature sauces, your meal is instantly elevated.

However, not all Taco Bell sauces are created equal:

4) Diablo sauce

The Diablo sauce is the newest addition to the Taco Bell spice rack. This sauce is the hottest option that the food chain offers. While it is labeled as extremely “spicy” I always feel a bit miffed after putting this on burrito.

This sauce is spicy, don’t get me wrong, but it fails to live up to its intimidating name. The first time I tried this sauce, I was expecting a full “Hot Ones” experience… I experienced nothing of the sort. Do better.

3) Hot sauce

The classic Taco Bell Hot sauce is third in the line of command of their spicy sauces. Honestly, this sauce isn’t too bad. I use this every single time I eat Taco Bell.

My biggest qualm with this sauce is that it’s not that different from the Mild sauce in terms of spice. It doesn’t offer much to your meal in terms of advancing the flavor. Still, it is better than the Diablo sauce because it didn’t completely mislead me.

2) Mild sauce

The Mild sauce is the tamest of all the sauces offered from Taco Bell. While it lacks in the spice department, it definitely adds some of the best flavor to your meal.

The Mild sauce beats out the Hot sauce, despite the similar spice levels, because it actually advances the overall flavor of your meal and makes eating Taco Bell a semi-enjoyable experience.

1) Fire sauce

The Fire sauce is easily the best sauce provided at Taco Bell. The Fire sauce was the hottest sauce that Taco Bell provided before Diablo came around. Not only is it the perfect amount of spice, but it also has a really great flavor that enhances your food.

I will continue to steal every Fire sauce packet that Taco Bell has until they tell me I can’t anymore simply because it is my ideal hot sauce.

Although all the Taco Bell sauces are pretty similar, the slight differences in flavor and naming make them easily rankable.
