Despite the new proximity of Cane’s, it is still ‘my pleasure’ to get Chick-fil-A

Even though Chick-fil-A is closed every Sunday, it still scores higher than Raising Cane’s.

Chicken is having a moment right now. The Popeye’s vs. Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich beef from over the summer is now being met with a new competition: which is better Raising Cane’s or Chick-fil-A? Who is truly the king of the coop?

The grand opening of Raising Cane’s on 63rd and Cass has brought a lot of attention to this fast-food restaurant. The close proximity of this new chain has put it in competition with Chick-fil-A. Both places are known for selling cheap and fast chicken.

Raising Cane’s serves chicken fingers and chicken sandwiches that come with a side of fries, Texas toast, coleslaw and Cane’s sauce. Their Texas toast is essentially a really buttery piece of toast that compliments the rest of their food. Most people I know ask to replace their coleslaw with another piece of Texas toast.

Cane’s sauce is comparable to a spicy mayo, it has a good consistency and slightly spicy flavor that works on fries and chicken. The only problem is that Cane’s sauce and ketchup are the only condiments available. What’s a chicken place without ranch?

Chick-fil-A would never.

Chick-fil-A has a sauce for any and every mood. They have a wide selection of sauces including the iconic Chick-fil-A sauce, zesty buffalo, Polynesian and many more.

Cane’s serves basic crinkle-cut fries, the kind you buy at a concession stand with cheese on the side. Chick-fil-A is known for its legendary waffle fries. The surface area ratio on a waffle fry is unmatched, which makes it the perfect companion for the many sauces at Chick-fil-A.

Chick-fil-A also serves grilled chicken, salads, mac and cheese, soups and milkshakes. Cane’s is limited to chicken sandwiches and chicken fingers. This changes the appeal of Cane’s because every time you go you have to get the same thing.

Another difference is the price, Cane’s is on average almost $2 more expensive than Chick-fil-A. Along with that, Cane’s charges extra for each refill on lemonade, whereas refills at Chick-fil-A are always free.

The overall style of these chain restaurants are very different. Cane’s has a more decorative atmosphere, making it a fun place to hang out at. The type of chicken sold at Cane’s is a chicken finger whereas Chick-fil-A is known for their nuggets.

Although Cane’s is a strong new edition to our town’s dining options, it will always be my choice, and “my pleasure” to get Chick-fil-A.
