Five questions with Makaila Scheiblen
Just 5 days ago, Makaila Scheiblen and Nicholas Stacey signed letters of intent for University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Lewis University, respectively. Borrowing a page from the field of sports news, here are five questions with Makaila Scheiblen:
Where did you sign, and for what sport?
“I could not be happier to announce my commitment to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to continuing my swimming career.”
Was it difficult making your choices?
“When making my decision it was not hard at all. I had about three colleges in mind. When I went on my official visit it made my decision very easy. Coach Kyle and Coach Lexi are so supportive of the whole team and a joy to be around. The team was very welcoming and made me feel like I found my new home for the next four years. On top of the wonderful coaching staff and the amazing team, UW-Milwaukee has an excellent program for my major.”
How did the signing make you feel?
“Going into the signing know I only had about 10 days left of practice, I was already a little sad about leaving my teammates and coaches. I have really gotten close to a lot of them over the past years. Everyone has pushed each other to do their best and I couldn’t thank everyone enough. Even though the workouts our coach gives us are hard, I couldn’t thank them enough for getting me to where I am today.”
Were you always good at sports?
“Around the age of four, my mom actually put my sister and I in swim lessons just so we could know how to swim if we needed to. My mom didn’t realize we would both fall in love with the sport. As a young kid, I was always very athletic and involved in may sports. So, yes, I guess you could say I’ve been always been good at sports.”
In regards to sports and college, what are you most excited for?
“I am most excited to meet new people and start the next chapter in my life. I will definitely miss the people who I surround myself with now, but I am ready to meet new people and have fun!”
