Coming home to play video games is a childhood delight that high school students don’t have the pleasure of enjoying anymore with crushing work and approaching deadlines; However, in the time that students could enjoy their evenings to the fullest, a common game in the catalog was Roblox, having thousands of games within itself. The most popular games of Roblox are still heavily played today and live in the memory of players across the internet.
10. Cheese horror escape
This maze is covered in bright yellow, spotty cheese with twists and turns that make it difficult to run away from the giant rat following players around the map. Locating several keys, unique areas and nine pieces of cheese push the game forward, but players must often start over if the rat catches them. While being a smaller game, it’s fun to compete against friends to see who can escape first – if the rat will let them.
9. Welcome to Bloxburg
Up until the summer of 2024, Welcome to Bloxberg was in its ‘beta period’ where it cost 25 Robux for players to even access the game. The large appeal of the game is its house building features; many players get in-game jobs to accumulate enough money to create the house they desire. Both veteran players and new, one-story-house owners find joy through using their imagination and inventiveness to show off.
8. Adopt me
Adopt Me is a classic involving hundreds of pets for gamers to collect and play with those virtual companions. ‘ABC for free pet’ will forever be the number one sign of a scam, where a player’s only rare pet is stolen through the infamous trade screen. Coming back to your in-game house with a lifelong, or maybe six-month-long, pet is a joy for those who take a risk and trade for the pet of their dreams.
7. Scary Shawarma kiosk
This game has become very popular with multiple popular youtube lets plays featuring it. Going into this game blind is not for the faint of heart because of its jump scares and the requirement of quick thinking; there are many guides for identifying evil customers. Whether it’s a random lady dancing in the street or a pair of twins staring into your soul, hoping for two shawarmas, players have to be ever careful about who they serve before the monster in the corner of the kiosk gets angry.
6. Work at a pizza place
A kid’s first nine-to-five is often found in this simple, sometimes frustrating game that gives a giant sense of responsibility of managing a fast food chain. Non-cooperative coworkers or an annoying boss who withholds wages are similarities that hold true both in-game and in real life. Getting past that and enjoying taking orders, making pizzas or delivering makes for a nice, relaxing Roblox experience.
5. Royale high
The endless hunt for a new, long and ginormous skirt is the true essence of being a Royale High player. Although everyone knows that the older versions of the main campus are better than the newest one, Royale High offers many locations for people to have fun and immerse themselves in the royal world. Players might not always win the competition for supreme royalty, but they’ll have a ball with a royal introduction, butlers and lots of rhythm game dancing.
4. Jailbreak
Players can start as a prisoner, who must escape and cause robberies throughout the map, or team up with their friends as a cop, in which they put an end to these robberies by chasing and arresting criminals. While it was small in its origins back in 2017, the game remains one of the most recognizable games on the Roblox platform; frequent or casual players will still appreciate it today with its interesting sound effects, recognizable maps and locations, and variety of vehicles and gears.
3. 99 nights in the forest
99 Nights in the Forest is one of the newer games on Roblox, released Mar. 3, 2025, but its popularity has risen through the ranks of horror games. Its survival-esque gameplay, along with the looming horror of the deer hiding in the woods, forces players to keep building bigger fireplaces, food resources and staying outside of the cold. Handling bunnies, wolves and bears is necessary for survival, yet reaching 99 nights doesn’t mean your adventure is over.
2. Dress to impress
Putting together outfits for competition alongside several options for accessories is the recipe for pageant disaster. Dress to Impress servers are fierce and often full of VIPs who find a way to achieve ‘fashion goddess’ by glitching and stacking clothing pieces to create a theme-matching costume. Helping a friend win by voting them five stars while voting everyone else a one is a cheat, but it’s oh so glorious to see your friend group on the podium.
1. Murder Mystery 2
This classic game is one that still keeps people on their toes, trying to uncover who the murderer is without exposing themselves to danger. Getting the murderer or the sheriff role is a thrill that is unexplainable to non-players; these roles rely on stealth and making sure the other isn’t lurking around the corner. The maps are full of hiding places for innocents to hide while the chaos of the main game unfolds.
Strategizing whether or not to hide, stand up to the murder or wait until the three minutes timer runs out, is a split-second decision that often makes or breaks a round of the game. Murder Mystery is constantly in the rotation of Roblox games played by friend groups. It earns it’s spot for being replayable, multiplayer and a fun distraction from everything else.
The pang of nostalgia hits when thinking about games that aren’t part of the average DGS student’s daily routine anymore, but the sweet memories made in Roblox servers remain nonetheless. So every once in a while, students might chose to take a night off and play the ever popular games of their childhood.
