Senior Sofia Galasso has an unshakeable relationship with her parents and brothers, which was largely impacted by the time they have spent traveling together around the world. Through the highs and lows, they’ve learned what it means to always be there for one another.
Galasso has many stories about traveling with her family over summer vacation. She enjoys creating life long memories with her family, which includes her parents, three brothers, and grandma. Galasso recounts one of her most memorable experiences during a family trip.
“My mom was obsessed with wanting to see bears…we even had bear food to try to get them. On the last day we were packing up the car to go home, and my younger brother, Mario, came inside yelling ‘there’s German Shepards outside!’ and there’s a mother bear and four of her cubs just walking behind her, right outside our car,” Galasso said.
When inquired about any future trips that she plans to go on, Galasso responded with an enthusiastic tone. She stated that she would be accompanying her brothers and grandma on a trip to Italy this June.
Galasso may have many heartwarming memories about her family vacations; however, sometimes things didn’t go according to plan.
“We were driving to Yellowstone, and it was Labor Day weekend. A blizzard hit and we got a flat tire, so we were stranded for eight hours on the side of the road. My dad tried to replace the tire, but the rental car didn’t have a spare one…So, we had to call someone to come get our car towed and ended up staying in a gas station,” Galasso said.
When Galasso was asked about her favorite food that she’s had on vacation, there was a smile on her face as she described a Hula pie from Hawaii. Hula pie, a type of ice cream pie, stuck out to her the most because of how delicious it was.
Galasso also enjoys meeting new people on vacation. One experience she remembers fondly was with her waiters in Mexico.
“We were in Mexico, at a really nice resort. We were there for seven days, and we got really close with our waiters the entire trip. They kept coming back to us, and it was so funny because we would mess with them all the time, and they would mess with us,” Galasso said.
It’s certain that Galasso’s travel experiences wouldn’t be the same without her siblings. She stated that her brothers are people that she always looks forward to traveling with.
“We always have a really good time together, it’s fun to go out of the state and travel with them. I’m close with them, and it’s never a dull moment,” Galasso said.
Galasso looks forward to going on more trips with her family in the future, especially her upcoming trip to Italy this June.
