Crepe It Up is a brand new restaurant that recently opened, and let me say, I am incredibly happy with its existence. As an individual with a raging sweet tooth, I feel I had some credibility to review this restaurant.
The atmosphere upon first entry is calm, with the walls a soft off-white hue and little hints of pastel color. On one of the walls is a big window, which allows natural light in and improves a person’s mood, leaving you a little happier than when you arrived. There’s also a spot in the corner for kids to play. There’s a chalkboard, a little tent and various toys for entertaining themselves because children, while adorable, are definitely impatient.
Ordering is done at the counter when you enter, and payment is done there as well, which I prefer than a waiter coming to your table over and over. The employees also don’t check in with you during your dining experience.
There are different sections on the menu: sweet crepes were separated from savory crepes, and there was even a section just for kids crepes. If crepes don’t tickle your fancy either, there were also bowls, with the same flavor options.
I was pleased with how they sorted their menu, because it makes the decision a lot easier when you know exactly what to expect. I ordered the ‘coffee crepe’ on the sweet side, which was $16.95.
I was pleased with the size of the meal too; it was a pretty big portion, and I found it difficult to finish it all.
The presentation of the food was also beautiful. The amount of whipped cream, which was too thick for my liking, was excessive but delicious.
The graham cracker crumbs sprinkled all over the crepe was a little strange. I didn’t enjoy this combo as it just felt out of place. For a delicious dish so light and sweet, graham crackers would be the last thing I would think to add.
Even the cutlery was pretty. It had a metallic gold finish and felt high quality.
I took a bite of the crepe, and was immersed in a delectable sweet dish. The crepe was light, and soft, and tasted just right. Not too crispy, but also not too soft either. It was the perfect balance.
The inside consisted of some white chocolate, coffee and more graham cracker crumbs.
If I was to criticize one part of this meal, it would be to lose the graham cracker crumbs. It was super unnecessary, and it doesn’t flow well with the meal. The taste heavily clashes with the delectable light coffee taste.
The texture is soft. It’s easy to chew, and your taste buds will be pleased. However, when you get a filled crepe, you half expect the filling to be of significant amount. Unfortunately, it was a little dry.
Must be all the graham cracker crumbs they insisted on including.
I was finished with my meal, and I left Crepe It Up with a full stomach, full heart and a full take-home box to indulge in later.
Overall, I give Crepe it Up a 9/10.
