“
I miss the square pizza they sold at the Waubonsie Valley High School cafeteria from 1994 through 1997. It was perfect. I believe I ate it every day for two straight school years. At one point, the cafeteria worker who was in charge of pizza stopped me once at a grocery store when I was in my 20s. She yelled across an aisle, ‘Square Pizza Guy.’ I’ve never been more proud of two people in my life. She told her son, who was probably in 9th grade, ‘This is the Square Pizza Guy.’ Her son was not impressed. I said, ‘I should stop by and grab a slice,’ and she shook her head. ‘They discontinued it. We haven’t had it in years.’ I’ve never been more devastated.”
