Sophomore Elsa Kramer has been reading and writing since she was five years old. After practicing journalism on many occasions, Kramer plans on joining the Blueprint at DGS. Then, she plans on following her dreams since a child, and writing for the Chicago Sun-Times.
Kramer was antsy about what she wants to do career wise.
“Journalism, or film, 100%. I love journalism, I love being able to interview people, I love being able to hear stories and be right on the scene and experience other people’s experiences and write about them,” Kramer said.
Kramer focuses in with direct eye contact and gets great nostalgia telling her story.
“When I was five years old, I used to walk around the house and ask my dad questions literally about anything. I would basically write it all down and then tell him about it,” Kramer said.
Kramer practices what she loves doing even outside of school.
“I love writing down TV and book reports in my free time with my personal ratings. So I always knew at a young age that I wanted to share my opinions and share other people’s voices,” Kramer said.
Kramer’s one dream here in high school is that she wants to write for the DGS Blueprint newspaper. She reads both the virtual and physical articles.
“I plan on writing for the Blueprint. I have already been to a few journalism clubs, and this is my dream here while I am at school,” Kramer said.
Kramer had developed an early passion for this aspiration.
“I was reading as early as three years old, and writing as early as five years old. I have been working hard for this my entire life,” Kramer said.
“I remember we had an assignment in 8th grade that was on a time in history we could choose, and she wrote it super well. You’d think she copied and pasted it from a newspaper,” friend Ariana Karapetyan said.
Kramer already plans on going to Illinois State University or University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as it is close to home, and they have the journalism programs she wants to pursue.
