“A Boy Called Christmas,” a holiday movie for all ages, was released on Nov. 26 of this year. The film was directed by Gil Kenan and stars Henry Lawfull in his debut movie role as Nikolas. The film received an esteemed 84% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes from its critics.

Based on the novel by Matt Haig, this kids and family drama takes viewers on a snowy adventure to the north with Nikolas on a quest to find his father. Accompanied by a reindeer friend named Blitzen, the heroic and brave Nikolas takes off from his home, along the way fulfilling his destiny and learning that nothing is impossible.

Going into the film, I had the mindset that the movie was going to be one of those extremely cliche holiday movies that only young children actually enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that, although it had some exaggerated scenes as any kids movie does, it was decently engaging.

From the heartfelt moments Nikolas has with his family and friends to the characters’ occasional comical remarks, “A Boy Called Christmas” is truly a film that is enjoyable and inspiring for people of many different ages and interests.

No matter how you plan on spending your time this winter, I strongly recommend making a little time to relax and watch this movie. You won’t regret it!
