Top 10 Christmas songs

Ava Lafin

One of my favorite traditions is finding my Elf on the Shelf every morning during December.

‘Tis the season to gather with friends or family, exchange gifts, and listen to good music. Make this holiday season extra special by playing some of the best Christmas or holiday tunes. Here is my list of the best Christmas songs.

10. “Santa Baby”
I love this Christmas song because it is a classic tune that talks about a spoiled girl and what she wants for Christmas. Who wouldn’t want Santa to leave them a brand new car under the tree? The smooth tune of this song goes well at any holiday karaoke or just for background noise.

9. “Mistletoe”
Justin Bieber is in season all year round but especially around the holidays. His song, “Mistletoe” is one of the best love songs for the most beautiful time of the year. So, cuddle around the fire and throw on some Biebs to set the mood.

8. “Carol of the Bells”
This classic Christmas tune is perfect to listen to at any chill Christmas get-together. The song has so many different sound that is calming yet cool to listen to. You get bonus points if you listen to the rock version of the song while rocking out to the air guitar.

7. “Last Christmas”
If you want to listen to a timeless song about love and loss around the holidays, this recommendation is for you. The song talks about how this year, to save him from tears, he’ll give his heart to some one new. This throwback gets better every year and definitely a hit around this time of year.

6. “So this is Christmas”
This song always gets me in my feels around Christmas time and makes me feel so nostalgic. This song feels like pure comfort and driving through lit up neighborhoods. John Lennon’s voice melts perfectly with the touching lyrics and mellow vibes.

5. “Drummer Boy”
You know I had to add Bieber to the list again as I think this is one of his best songs. The original lyrics paired with the beat is the perfect balance between Christmas and mosh pit. This is my go-to song to get down to around the holidays.

4. “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”
“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is one of my favorite holiday movies and this song is such a classic that most people will know all of the lyrics. The jokes and the beat as well as the voice of the singer adds to the holiday ambiance and makes this a must have on the Christmas playlist.

3. “Believe”
This song from “The Polar Express” is such a nostalgic song for kids our age. The song talks about the true essence of Christmas and Santa which is so comforting around the holidays. The lyrics and instruments are so moving and definitely a top pick.

2. “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”
This song is such a classic and gets everyone in the mood for the holiday right around the corner. This song is the epitome of the happy holidays and gives you a long list of things to do this season. It definitely deserves its #2 spot.

1. “All I Want for Christmas is You”
You know I had to add this song, but it’s obvious why it is #1. This song is considered the Christmas anthem and it lives up to its reputation every year. I have personally had this song on repeat since Nov 1 and it will be here through January.
