While the current Coronavirus pandemic has been wreaking havoc on almost every person’s daily life routines over the last couple of weeks, as well as the world’s businesses and flowing economy, There have been some industries that have expectedly had an increase in sales/profit since self-quarantine because of the better hygiene protocols that people have been practicing. Here are 4 industries that are succeeding because of Covid-19.

4. Disinfectant products

In the midst of the growing coronavirus pandemic, consumers all have a common enemy- viruses. This is best fought through hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, and even thermometers, and they are flying off the shelves from stores across the country. With some retailers being accused of price gouging, the demand for these products won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Which can be seen as online sales for these items against viruses have risen over 800%.

3. Exercise gear

While most if not all gyms are shut down for an extended period of time, people are desperate to continue exercising at home. That is making indoor exercise equipment a hot buy. One home fitness store in Arizona, put out their biggest order in the store’s history, and all that has not been enough to satisfy demand.

2. Indoor gaming

With 2020 being so technologically advanced, it’s no wonder that video games alike are being played at record levels according to Forbes. One of the most popular PC gaming sites, Steam, drew in a record 20 million users. Other online gaming services, such as Activision, have seen a dramatic increase in users by the millions in just under a week. This could bring much attention to the world of Esports which typically isn’t taken into the mainstream conversation from sports analysts.

1. TV streaming

With all of us being confined to our houses, online entertainment has become ever so important. From March 1 to March 16, streaming hours on TV’s were up over 20% compared to last year. With cable cutting being so prominent over the past years, that could be put on hold as almost all viewership among different streaming services are experiencing a significant rise.

As these trends will likely be only temporary, it can be said these types of industries are extremely beneficial given the current situation. Whether you have already used these resources or not, hopefully they provide a positive distraction day by day.
