DGS has made a couple changes to their athletic facility’s over the past summer.

New digital scoreboard with sound system in stadium

More additions to the stadium is the new digital scoreboard and sound system. The scoreboard’s size is 40 by 22. The sound systems and scoreboard estimated cost together was $500,000.
“The [scoreboard] is huge and it's loud, very very loud. At football games it allows everyone to hear the music very clearly and be able to see the score and the clock well. I am excited for basketball games this year and how the jumbotron in there will affect everything,” senior Ariella Urias said.

New Turf

The stadium turf field is located on Springside Avenue and Norfolk St. has been redone as well. The project started in June and ended and August.

New stadium track

Surrounding the turf field, the track has also been redone. “We had the track resurfaced and recolored. That was a lot of design, a lot of collaboration. All these projects have been in the work for a year out almost,“ Athletic Director Brandon Murphy said.

New large gym, digital scoreboard

Located in the large gym, DGS replaced the old scoreboard with a new digital scoreboard as well, estimating a cost of $250,000. They also added another digital scoreboard on the opposite side of the gym as well.
“We kept most of our existing equipment in the large gym, but we added to that with the sound. So new sound racks and two new digital scoreboards,” Murphy said.

Upcoming renovations to field house

According to the Capital Improvement Plan 2024-2025, DGS will also be renovating the fieldhouse floor and replacing the fieldhouse track for $300,000.
“In the original package from last summer, it is for this summer which is already on the list for the budget is the field house floor and the courts being replaced,“ Murphy said.
