Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, students flock to the newly stocked vending machines. They demolish the hot Cheetos, devour the Takis and deplete the candy.
In the end, all that stands left are the few disheveled snacks leftover, and the few popular items that will quickly be scooped up at lunch time. By the end of the day, the vending machine will be nothing short of sad-looking.
However, there are a few underrated gems that just don’t get enough attention.
#1. Popcorn
Popcorn is a traditional snack that’s universally enjoyed. Not only does it get you through the day, it doesn’t have an overwhelming taste that’s only enjoyed by those who can stand it. Seriously, how many people have you met that don’t like popcorn? I’ll wait.
#2. Pretzels
Another fan favorite. Salty and with that addictive crunch that everyone loves. Personally, I prefer the skinny ones, but the ones that the vending machines offer are just as good. When you need to quick fix to hunger, you know where to go.
#3. PAYDAY
Now, this one is more of an acquired taste. Aside from their magnificent commercials, their crunchy, savory taste makes you just want to take one… more… bite. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on these in all their peanut-filled glory.
#4. Chuckles
A chewy, jelly candy. When all else fails, Chuckles will save the day. I stumbled upon them one afternoon after starving, stubbornly I bought them because they were all that was left. Soon however, I was forced to concede and spend my hard-earned $1.25 on them. Luckily, I wasn’t disappointed.
#5. Doritos
You would never think that the Doritos would be one of the few items left over in the vending machine raid. I love Doritos at any time of day. Morning, afternoon and late at night when the sound of the bag crinkling wakes up the house. As long as that’s the only option left, of course.
So at the end of the day when there’s nothing left other than some Pay Day’s or Doritos, don’t be too good to give it a try. Also, collectively, lets not raid the vending machine as soon as they’re stocked. Leave some for others.
