The DGS drama department started production of its annual fall show on Monday, Oct. 2, with its traditional table read. The show, “Twelve Angry Jurors”, is a theater show about a court case where 12 jurors debate and argue over the fate of a man’s life.
“Twelve Angry Jurors” is directed by Nathaniel Haywood, an English and fine arts teacher.
“I’m really excited about it. It’s a great, classic show, and for good reason,” Haywood said.
Haywood has been involved with DGS drama for over 11 years and said that this show will be different than what audiences are used to.
“We are doing a different stage setup than normal. It’s going to be in a runway style. The goal is to bring the audience as close as possible so they feel like they are in the room with the jurors,” Haywood said.
This stage change will not only affect the way the audience sees the show but will also change how the actors will behave on stage.
“In this show, it’s more of an ensemble. Everyone acts the whole time, reacting and being an integral part of the show,” Haywood said.
Senior Layla Orozco plays juror number four and saw the show perform earlier in the year. Orozco is optimistic about the cast.
“I think we have such an awesome cast of people, and it’s going to be so awesome to see, how it all comes together because we have some really great talent,” Orozco said.
