Top 10 best Trader Joe’s snacks

Casey Muzykansky

It’s pumpkin season! The best season at Trader Joes!

Since 1958, Trader Joe’s has been one of the finest stores at making their own delicious food products and selling out, it’s evident that everyone has a special place in their heart for Trader Joe’s and its outstanding snacks. You’ve probably heard of products like The Everything but the Bagel Seasoning, the mandarine orange chicken or the cauliflower gnocchi. After searching and finding many delightful products, I have narrowed it down to the top 10 most mouth-watering Trader Joe’s hidden gems.

10. Sour Cream and Onion Corn Puffs $2.29
Although this may not be something you’d think to pick up off the shelf, it is definitely worth taking. If you have ever thought, what do packing peanuts taste like? The crunch of the corn puffs are so satisfying and have a similar texture to packing peanuts, but they taste much better than the real ones.

9. Dark Chocolate Drizzled Plantain Chips $2.99
Before I initially tried this I thought they would be plain plantain chips that were slightly drizzled in chocolate. I was wrong, they were much more delicious than I thought. In every single bite, you get a delicious crunch from the plantain and a large yet not overwhelming amount of chocolate.

8. Fig and Olive Crisps $3.99
Alone, they are kind of overwhelming, there is a lot going on in the crisp itself there are fig pieces, different seeds and nuts in them, which is a lot. With different dips, these crisps are marvelous. I recommend these with gouda dip, queso, hummus and many others; these will definitely substitute for the Ritz Crackers on my charcuterie board.

7. Dark Chocolate Cookie Sticks $1.69
These are similar to the Japanese Pocky snacks, but they are dark chocolate making them a bit healthier and making me feel better about eating them. The chocolate-dipped sticks have a strong crunch and are loved by many.

6. Just Mango Slices $2.99
These chewy and sweet delights are nothing but the all-natural mango. They keep the bright taste of mango in small slices making them an easy snack. These mangoes are dried, ripe and have a clean bite to eat on the go.

5. Baked Cheese Crunchies $1.99
If you’ve ever eaten Cheetos you will love these chips; growing up I was obsessed with Cheetos and now I can’t stop eating them. These are superior because they have 40% less saturated fat than name brands, although the taste is what brings it over the top. Chomping on one of these has the most delightful crunch that you don’t have with healthier option chips.

4. Pink and Whites $3.29
A delicious flower-shaped cookie with pink or white yogurt frosting and rainbow sprinkles. These remind me of frosted animal crackers, they melt in your mouth and have a tangier taste because of the yogurt. I loved these so much that I used them as a mechanism to help me with my physics homework: every problem I do, I get a cookie.

3. Gummy Tummies $1.99
When I was originally introduced to these I was skeptical, and after eating them for years, I promise they’re delicious. The best way I can describe them is like the healthy version of gushers. They are penguin-shaped gummy candies with fruit juice inside the tummies of the penguins, hence the name, Gummy Tummies.

2. Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups $4.49
If you like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, you’ll love these. They are twice as delicious and much more filling than regular peanut butter cups. I ate the entire carton in less than two days; I highly recommend these cups of creamy peanut butter covered in chocolate.

1. Maple Sea Salt Kettle Corn $2.49
Although these are a seasonal item, I had to include them. This popcorn is to die for, I’m not the biggest fan of kettle corn, the maple in this kettle corn makes it extremely greater than regular popcorn. One minute the bag would be half full, and by the time I looked back into the bag, there would be one or two pieces left.

Trader Joe’s has always been one of my favorite grocery stores. I’ve been going there since I could barely walk and some of these snacks I’ve loved since then. If you live anywhere near a Trader Joe’s and you don’t go there on a regular basis, you’re missing out; you must take yourself to a Trader Joe’s as soon as possible before the shelves are out of stock with these amazing items.
