Corn rows and cold verse: A Post Malone review
Here I am again, caught off guard by some guy with shaggy hair and face tattoos’s album.
Nope, this isn’t a SoundCloud rapper but the one and only Post Malone. Malone’s story and role in the hip-hop and rap community has been one of complete mystery, and has everyone asking themselves the same question.“How does a six-foot, chubby, white guy with cornrows sound so good?”
The simple answer is that Malone is like no other artist on the scene right now. Where mumble rap and gloating about guns seem to have run rampant in the rap community, Malone stands out as an honest man speaking his mind about the challenges in his life.
To say that this album sounded remotely close to his other releases would be like saying the new Popeyes chicken sandwich is comparable to the DGS one . They are just incomparable.
The variety and choice in sounds and genre on Post’s new album “Hollywood’s Bleeding” is unparalleled to his previous projects. Whether he is talking about his success and achievements on the track “Saint-Tropez”, or about how much life can beat you down in “A Thousand Bad Times,”, one thing is clear.
The only similarity between two songs on this album is Malone himself. Featuring artists such as the sensational rapper DaBaby to classic rock stars from my parent’s childhood like Ozzy Osbourne, “Hollywood’s Bleeding” has an impressive ensemble of artists. Malone as both a person and an artist continues to grow as his community (more like an army) supports him with endless love.
This is Malone’s 3rd album to date. With each album he seems to get better and better at finding himself as an artist and who he really wants to be, and millions are glad to support him along the way.
“Hollywood’s Bleeding” was released September 6th and is available on most music platforms. I highly recommend you give it a listen.
