DGS baseball cruises past crosstown rival

It was a big day this Saturday for the seniors on the DGS baseball team. It was warm and sunny as the Mustangs defeated their crosstown rivals, DGN, 10-2 through seven innings. The seniors that played today — Brett Riegler,  Nick Stacey,  Cameron Crowley and Jordan Knoch — racked up seven hits out of sixteen at-bats and were a big part of the Mustangs’ offense.

In the second inning of the game,  Crowley got out of a second and third one-out situation with two strikeouts in a row.

In the bottom of the second Blair Thibault hit a clutch single into center to score Knoch from third and tie the game at one. They would later score six in the inning to take the lead 6-1 with five hits in a row and two outs. The Mustangs would go on to score four more runs in the fourth inning to take a 10-2 lead.

Cameron Crowley started the game and pitched five innings with two earned runs no walks and struck out seven in his senior day performance. Kyle Heavy and Jake Pileggi would go on to close the last two innings of the game with no problems.
