On April 2, Mustang starting pitcher Cameron Crowley struckout 11 batters in a 6-1 win against Addison Trail. He held the Blazers to 1 run the entire game silencing any offensive noise.
Crowley, earning his first win of the season, pitched a complete game with no walks.
“My fastball had a little bit of life and I was blowing it by them the first couple of innings. It was a fantastic job by Riegler behind the plate calling pitches,” Crowley said.
“It was an efficient start by Crowley and he kept us in the game,” Head Coach Darren Orel said.
The Mustang’s offense was very lackluster the first five innings generating 1 run off of 3 hits and a walk. That would change in the bottom of the sixth inning where they would go on to score 5 runs. The inning consisted of a lead off triple from Anthony Stellato, a single from Nick Stacey, then a two run home run from Keegan Garland. Stacey went 2 for 3 with 1 run and an RBI, Hanek went 2 for 3 as well with a double and 1 run.
There were four errors in the game, and that is something the Mustangs need to work on. They didn’t end up effecting the final score but they could in the future. “It doesn’t help when the defense makes four errors, but it was an overall good win,” Orel said.
