Playing since the age of six, senior Brett Riegler has only had one dream: playing college baseball. “The main goal is playing division one, kind of everything I do is for that,” Riegler said.

For Riegler, playing baseball in college has run in his family for years. With both older brothers attending colleges specifically for baseball, Riegler intends to follow their lead when deciding his baseball future this year.

As of now, Riegler has narrowed his options down to a few choices, “ I have three schools in mind right now, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh , University Of Chicago and Western Michigan,” Riegler said.

With two visits coming up in September and October to both University Of Chicago and Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Riegler is certainly making his dreams come true.

“The biggest thing is getting in front of the right schools and pursuing with those schools I want to go to,” Riegler said. But, like any talented baseball player, Riegler had to put in the work to get the perfect result.

Riegler has put in endless amount of time, effort, and dedication to get to where he is now with his baseball career.

“My dad and I, we practice a lot. Maybe two to three times a week…we will go to the batting cages..work on my swing and hitting,” Riegler said. This is the work Riegler puts in on his own time, but he also practices and plays a tremendous amount of games with his travel team, The Longshots.

Starting out with coach pitch and working his way up to travel, Riegler has had a lot of baseball experience. Playing for a travel team out of Downers, The Longshots, for over nine years and also on the Downers Grove South Varsity baseball team for three years. The starting catcher Riegler has played and practiced baseball his whole life.

Though high school ball to college ball is a big jump, Riegler is ready to take it. “ I think I will be pretty well prepared..relative to being a new freshman in high school,” Riegler said. Sticking to his goals for this upcoming seasons, Riegler is hoping to improve some minor details in his game and just keep pushing himself to get to the next level.
