It’s not every day that you see a classmate who has released multiple songs on various popular platforms. But for senior Ava Dickenscheidt, releasing music is just the beginning. Between classes, homework and rehearsals, she builds her music career through dedication and hard work.
Dickenscheidt has been singing for most of her life, whether it was in her home or through the school choir. She just recently started creating her own songs and releasing them on big platforms under the name Ava Nicole.
“A good feeling that comes with producing music is the fact that I am doing something I love. To me, it’s not just music; it’s my life, and it makes me happy. The feeling of inspiring people and creating art with music is a feeling not a lot of people will get to know,” Dickenscheidt said.
It is very rare for people to have a passion for something and be so talented that they can really make something of it. For Dickenscheidt, she spends so much time on her craft, and it pays off.
Senior Jaina Kolavennu has been friends with Dickenscheidt since freshman year and is supportive of her musical journey.
Dickenscheidt impacts everyone around her and inspires her friends and family through her actions and bubbly personality. The attributes that make her a good person also make her a great songwriter and singer, which contribute immensely to her career.
“Something that motivates her is what she’s passionate about; she’s a very passionate person, so I think that helps her and makes it easier for her to write music,” Kolavennu said.
Dickenscheidt’s passion for music is clear to everyone she knows, and that is what makes her music so powerful.
“I’ve been singing since I could talk. I’ve just enjoyed hearing myself sing for the most part. As I got older, I learned singing is a way to express myself. I used to do it for fun, but now it’s more than that. I don’t know what I would do without my love for music,” Dickenscheidt said.
Her talent and success have not been a quick or easy process; she has put in long hours, and many years of singing have come before this.
Junior Peyton Dickenscheidt, her brother, can attest to this and shares his experience with having a sister like her.
“Since we were little, I always heard her singing all the time, anywhere and any place. It is pretty cool seeing how she can grow throughout her music career and see where she can go with it,” Peyton Dickenscheidt said.
Along with the individual work, she also works every week with her producer, Evan Dunn. He has been working with Ava Dickenscheidt for two years and helps her work on the new music that she is planning to release and produce her upcoming music and songs. She writes the lyrics, and he helps add background instruments and produce the overall sound of the song.
“Ava is always willing to try different styles and takes production direction very well. She has great control and vibrato, but is tasteful with it and never tries to do too much, or over sing. She’s always focused on what is best for the song and what helps express her emotions the most,” Dunn said.
Dunn loves working with Ava Dickenscheidt because of her music style, dependability, and determination. The powerful dynamic that Ava Dickenscheidt and Dunn have together is amazing and not seen in many producer-singer pairs. This is what creates the amazing music that she is able to release.
“Ava has put so much hard work into her songs with me over the past couple of years, and I think that has helped her realize that you can achieve great things when you do so. She’s always open to different styles and ideas, and constantly strives to make each song better than the last. That is what really pushes the best out of her as an artist and promotes growth,” Dunn said.
Ava Dickenscheidt’s hard work does not go unnoticed by the people around her, especially Dunn. It’s hard to ignore her immense talent and drive to get better and better. She impacts the music world and everyone she interacts with, which will take her very far.
Dickensheidt plans to further her career at Belmont University in Nashville, TN studying music business.
“She talks a lot about how she wants to be a really big singer someday, and there’s no doubt in my mind that she will be because she is truly so talented and hard working,” Kolavennu said.
