Holiday shopping is debatably the most difficult part of the season, especially when parents say, “don’t spend your money on me” or “I don’t need anything” when they’re asked what they want for Christmas, like my parents. Well, here are my top five gifts for difficult and picky parents that “just want a day of silence.”
1: Yeti insulated mug
A low risk, high reward present. My parents are severe coffee addicts, so this present is perfect for their on-the-go cup o’ joe. They also tend to prefer the taste of their coffee from home, rather than spending money on Dunkin’ or Starbucks. This item is slightly on the pricier side, so take my advice wisely.
2: Robe
Perfect for a cold winter morning, or a cozy night in. I got my mom a robe a couple years back and she wears it everyday. It’s perfect because a robe is an item that no one thinks to get themselves, but it’s veryfunctional and perfect for everyday use. Plus, robes can be pretty affordable and easily found at most stores.
3: A record
Now this is something that only pertains to record player owners, but it’s such a hit. Get parents’s favorite album on vinyl and they’ll be super stoked to jam out. You’re also showing that you care about what they like, double points.
4: Basket of their favorite things
This is an easy one because all anyone has to do is buy a bunch of snacks or toiletries from your local Target store. Make a list of their favorite candies, snacks and personal care items to put in a basket, but make sure it is presented nicely. This is an easy present since each of these items will get put to use.
5: The classic–a homemade coupon book
No matter how old someone is, this will always be great for parents. When I was younger, I would make my parents coupon books that consisted of tasks and chores that my brothers and I could do around the house; such as cleaning the kitchen, folding laundry and cooking dinner. Warning: they definitely will be using those coupons, so choose the chores very wisely.
