Senior Anna Luczak heads into senior year on softball

Tryouts for any sport mean putting in the work. For Senior Anna Luczak, that work paid off when she made the 2020 varsity softball team as a freshman.

Luczak started playing softball in second grade in a recreational league and joined travel softball at eleven playing in the 14U league. Luczak has continued to further her softball career throughout her life and wants to become a college athlete.

Luczak is currently getting recruited for softball by Wisconsin Lutheran College.

“I have one standing offer right now, and I’m talking to two more for other offers,” Luczak said.

Luczak spoke on how being the only freshman on the team gave her the opportunity to grow her mental toughness.

“Sports are very political and when you are the youngest on the team, you don’t get a lot of playing time. Not starting helps me with self-discipline,” Luczak said.

Luczak started truly enjoying the sport when she discovered her most valuable relationship.

“Coach Bill Kouda made me love the sport again; [he] made the sport fun again for me,” Luczak said.

Luczak believes that having a great team helped her improve her skills on the field and stick with the sport for so long.

“Having a close bond with my teammates is how I learned to play my best because the dynamic is better,” Luczak said.

When looking to the upcoming season, Luczak is excited to see how her fourth year on varsity will go and where she will commit to.
